Who are you?
My name is Garen, and I am many things: writer, witch, director, prodigal daughter of South London, joyfully mediocre fibre artist.
Under the aegis of Chalk and Cowrie, I am a Tarot card reader based in Edinburgh.
“what is the nature of this problem?”
That’s the first question I ask. The second is: “how can it be untangled?” Divination practice and witchcraft has brought me so much joy, liberation, and autonomy. Part of my job as a Tarot card reader is to pass that onto you! You’ll leave our session able to see the path ahead much more clearly, and you’ll have the tools to actually do something about your issue.
What’s in a name?
Both chalk and cowrie shells are used in lots of different divination systems in Nigeria, which is where my ancestry flows from. I am not initiated into any African Traditional Religions so do not lay claim to them but I wanted a title that connected my heritage to the idea that there are many paths ahead.
